My Story
Pastor Sylvia gave her life to Christ at an early age and was born and raised in the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder James Pompey. It was under the leadership of Elder Pompey that she learned the importance of having a relationship with Jesus and making Him her personal Lord and Savior. She has a degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Central Florida in which she completed on Saturday, August 3, 2019.
Her commitment and compassion for her family, cultivated her love for working with children. Over the years she has been a foster mother for 26 children in her home.
Pastor Sylvia Mayhew was married to the distinguished Reverend Mark D. Mayhew for 37 years. Unfortunately, he went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2021, due to contracting COVID while caring for her. They have one son, Kamryn.
She now serves as the lead pastor of United Evangelical Missionary Outreach of Palm Coast, Florida, since the passing of her husband. After earning a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she received a degree from Grand Canyon University, and is currently working on becoming a counselor and therapist to better serve her Church family and community. While serving as the pastor of UEMO, she desires to do the will of God whole heartedly. According to the scripture Hebrews 12:1-2, the race is not given to the swift or the strong but to the one who endured to the end.
